I taught myself to draw as a kid by copying the Simpsons and the Nickelodeon shows I watched after school. Then surf and skate logos. Then everything else. YouTube tutorials and library books. No art school. Just obsession.
I left Venezuela in 2016. One year in Australia first, where a family member took me in and I had the best year of my life. Pure surfing. Pure nature. Then Barcelona in 2017. Then Vienna.
Each place gave me something.

Australia gave me the ocean and the feeling of pure play. Barcelona showed me that art doesn't live in museums. It lives in the street, painted on walls, fused with the skate scene. The first time I walked into MACBA and saw Keith Haring's work in the middle of all that, something shifted. I saw what was possible when art and culture run together.
Vienna gave me the opposite lesson. A perfectly built city. Belvedere. The attention to detail in every tree, every paint stroke, every building. The mastery you only get when somebody cared a long time ago and the work kept caring. Vienna taught me restraint.
The whole way through, I drew at night. I worked other jobs to pay rent and drew in the dark when those jobs were done. Long hours. Learning fundamentals. No shortcuts. Still doing it.

I built Huks because the brands I grew up loving got bought, scaled, and started forgetting the community that made them matter. I'm not interested in elevating the product. I'm interested in the people who actually wear it. A nature lover. A surfer chilling at the beach after a session. Someone heading to the local skatepark to meet friends. Someone hanging by the pool, Chalky hands, sun on their face. If that's you, you're already in.
For those who eventually figure it out.

Huks is the world where my characters can live. Not a clothing brand. A world. Every drawing, every tee, every comic, every print, every weird thing I make is part of the same universe. The island on this site is real. The characters in it are pieces of me and pieces of people I've met. The shop is one room in a much bigger house.
The work is in conversation with Hergé, Dr. Seuss, Walt Disney, Keith Haring, KAWS. Drawn by one person who skates and climbs. No mass production, zero waste. If you buy something here, you're backing a real human making real things, before everyone else catches on.
